In the footsteps of Bodil Biørn from Norway to Armenia

Wikimedia Norge, Wikimedia Armenia and The National Archives of Norway have collaborated on a project to digitize a collection of 181 historic photographs created by the Norwegian missionary and nurse Bodil Biørn (1871-1960) who took the photos during her stay among Armenian christians in the Ottoman Empire starting in 1905. A selection of these photographs have now been published in the tri-language publication In the footsteps of Bodil Biørn from Norway to Armenia.

Wikipedia er en av verdens mest brukte nettressurser for informasjonsutveksling. Wikipedia and Human Rights: Reflections from Oslo Freedom Forum

Collaboration between Wikimedia Norge and NetBlocks: suppporting access to knowledge

Wikimedia Norge and Netblocks share a vision of a free Internet and of making knowledge available to everyone. At The 2018 Oslo Freedom Forum, human rights advocates from the entire world have gathered this week to exchange experiences. Wikimedia Norge and Netblocks used the conference as an opportunity to start our collaboration on access to knowledge globally in the face of increasing government censorship.

Mapping project of Wikipedia in indigenous languages

When we discuss working towards achieving diversity in Latin America, we can find many of the same challenges facing similar communities around the world: LGBT, people with disabilities, and those from lower socio-economic sectors of society, just to name a few.

Lightning talk at Wikimedia Diversity Conference

This summer I was lucky enough to land a summer job at Wikimedia Norway. And over the course of two months I interviewed six female contributors from both Norway and Sweden, to get their perspective on the gender gap on Wikipedia. We talked about the gender gap among the contributors, but also the gap in terms of the content on Wikipedia. Like the gender imbalance in biographies, and the lack of articles on topics related to women.

Wiki-LAN i Tromsø

Lørdag 16. september 2017 fra 10.00–22.00 arrangerte Balanse-prosjektet ved Musikkonservatoriet i Tromsø et heldags skriveverksted i data-LAN-stil. Prosjektet Wiki-LAN var designet for å oppmuntre kvinner til å skrive og redigere i Wikipedia, og i tillegg skulle LANet inspirere både kvinner og menn til å produsere og redigere artikler om verdens fabelaktige kvinner. LANet var et heldags-event, og er en del av satsingen «Kjønn og skjønn i kunstfagene» ved Det kunstfaglige fakultetet ved UiT som blant annet har som strategi å framsnakke og synliggjøre kvinner som likestillingstiltak.
