Women in Red 2026
Every year in March, we make a major push to increase the share of women’s biographies on Wikipedia. Will you help out? Join activities and a competition!
Women in Red is an international campaign, and here in Norway countless volunteers have made a huge effort since 2019: Women in Red on Wikipedia. The campaign is organized by Wikimedia Norway
Now we’re rolling up our sleeves and getting ready to learn from and inspire each other. Welcome to this year’s community effort!

All month: Writing competition
Join the Wikipedia competition!
Write women’s biographies in Bokmål, Nynorsk, Northern Sámi, or Inari Sámi, and you can win honor, glory, and gift cards. Since the start in 2019, 4,987 new articles have been created as part of this annual competition.
All month: #5women
We share and discuss five women’s biographies from Wikipedia on Instagram. How are women presented in the world’s largest encyclopedia and is it different from biographies about men? Which important women’s lives are still not documented on Wikipedia?
Use the hashtag #5women and share your thoughts.
