Wikipedia Kickstart
Do you want to write on Wikipedia, but don’t know how to get started? Take part in a digital meeting and we’ll help you on the way.
- 1 October 19:00-20:00
- 5 November 19:00-20:00
- 3 December 19:00-20:00

Which content belongs on Wikipedia? How can I improve Wikipedia pages? You can learn this in a one-hour Kickstart session.
Wikipedia Kickstart is offered on the first Wednesday of every month (or the second, if the first is a bank holiday). Please create a Wikipedia account before attending a session for the first time. If you plan to edit Wikipedia in a language other than Norwegian, please familiarise yourself with that particular language version. You don’t need to sign up, simply click the button when the session is about to begin. Please remember to turn on your computer audio and camera!
Kickstart sessions for individuals or small groups
If you can’t make the Kickstart time slot, you can book a one-on-one Kickstart session with one of our hosts. You can also reach out to us at post@wikimedia.no.
Other support
If you create a user account on Wikipedia and use the new home page function, you will be assigned a mentor who can help you get going. Wikipedia also has a beginner’s forum packed with useful information, where you can post questions.
Starting February 2026: If you edit Wikipedia but miss someone to discuss matters with, you are welcome to use a desk at the Wikimedia Norge office on Tuesdays at 11:00–15:00. You can edit at your own pace, and our staff is available to answer questions you may have. Bring a packed lunch and we can continue the conversation over lunch. You will find us on the 4th floor of Sentralen in Oslo.
Remember: Don’t be afraid to try things out! It’s impossible for you to break anything on Wikipedia.
